Jenni “JWoww” Farley’s mission took the spotlight on the Thursday, July 28, episode of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation.” She wants to make the world a more hospitable place for children with autism and their families.
Her son, Greyson, 5, was diagnosed with autism three years ago.
“When I got the autism diagnosis, I actually didn’t realize there was a sensory issue attached to autism,” said Jenni on Thursday’s episode. “I just thought there was going to be a delay in speech. As a parent figuring out what autism is, we didn’t know what the spectrum involved and it’s a very overwhelming experience.”
In 2019, Jenni joined the board of directors of Kulture City, a Birmingham, Alabama-based group that seeks “to rethink accessibility to create a community of acceptance and inclusion for all individuals of unique abilities,” according to the group’s mission statement.
Greyson was honored at Culture City’s first gala, which took place in April at Tao Downtown restaurant in New York City.
Jenni and her 7-year old Meilani gave speeches.
A low point for Jenni was an incident at an airport with Greyson.
“They didn’t help. They stood there and watched and most likely just thought I was just a bad mother and I couldn’t control my 2-year-old son when obviously that wasn’t the case,” Farley said. “My goal at Kulture City is to make every airport sensory inclusive certified so that no family goes through what I went through.”

Autism sensory overload can be very stressful and debilitating. In December, Jenni cut the ribbon on a new spot at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, home of the Nets, called the Greyson Mathews Sensory Room, for attendees with sensory processing disorders.
On Thursday’s show, Mike “The Situation” and Lauren Sorrentino, Deena Cortese and husband Chris Buckner, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni’s fiance, Zack “24” Clayton, came out to support the cause at the gala.
Greyson joined Jenni on the dais and Meilani nailed her speech.
“This moment could not have been more perfect,” Jenni said. “Greyson has overcome so many obstacles in life that I just couldn’t be more of a proud mom. I never thought it could actually be this good.”
“Jersey Shore Family Vacation” airs 8 pm Thursdays on MTV.
