Benefit organized for Davie County deputy after injured on vacation

The Davie County community is coming together to help a deputy who has given so much back after he was injured while on a trip in Virginia. Davie County resident Lori Cobb said Officer Ryan Jones was injured while on a trip to Virginia with her daughter. He had to be airlifted, undergo surgery, and now go through physical therapy. “He’s very community oriented. He’s just an all-around good guy,” Cobb said. Jones works for the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. Cobb said even when he’s off duty, he’s helping people. She’s seen his selflessness first hand. “Ryan is a fixture of our community. I got to know it briefly when I watched him with a house fire. Helping kids there by ordering pizza. Did it on his own, paid for it out of his own pocket,” Cobb said. Cobb is now asking the community he’s given so much back to, to give back to him. Cobb and other friends and family have organized a BBQ benefit and silent auction to help Jones with his medical expenses. “I’ve done a lot of these things before for other people, so this is touching home a little bit cause he is a part of our family. I’m just looking forward to seeing the outpour that I know in my heart we’re gonna get cause Davie County always steps up,” Cobb said. The benefit is set for August 13th at Cornerstone Christian Church in Farmington, North Carolina, from 4 to 9 pm To help, Cobb said just come to the event. “We need people to come out and if they got something they wanna donate, we’ll take donations,” Cobb said. Cobb said to call her if you’d like to donate something for the silent auction . Her number is 980-244-9849.
