Valerie Letizia Obituary (2022) – Pleasantville, NJ

Letizia, Valerie S. (nee Miller), – of Pleasantville, was a beloved wife, mother and me-mom during her 75 years of life. She passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022 surrounded by her entire family of lei. Valerie was born November 27, 1946 in Los Angeles, California and was raised in Atlantic City. She graduated Atlantic City High School in 1964 and went to Grace Downs Air Career Finishing School in Long Island. Upon graduation, she worked as a travel agent for Gertrude Lazar Travel Agency. She married Tom, the love of her life di lei, honeymooned in Switzerland and Italy, lived in Texas, California and New Mexico as a proud Army Captain’s wife before returning to Atlantic County to raise 3 beautiful children. Valerie managed her husband’s dental practice for over 50 years. She was a beautiful soul that touched the lives of many in our community. She was an excellent cook, doting, loving wife and nurturing mother. She enjoyed dancing on the Steel Pier, reading mystery novels, volunteering at the Margate Little League concession stand, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, feeding all her backyard wildlife, traveling to Maine, Sunday drives with her husband, lunches with dear friends and family, quiet time with her kitty and a soothing cup of tea with a biscotti. But nothing di lei made her prouder and brought her more joy than her children and grandchildren. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was so kind and compassionate and to be loved by her was truly a blessing. Valerie will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories di lei, naughty sense of humor and incredible generosity. When you think of Valerie, you automatically smile. Heaven is so lucky to have gained such a beautiful angel. Valerie is predeceased by her parents di lei, Atlantic City artist, George W. Miller and Atlantic City Art Center director, Florence Valore Miller. Valerie will be painfully missed by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Thomas L. Letizia, her three children, Danielle Letizia Katzoff and her husband Aaron, Josette Letizia Barbera and her husband Mark, Thomas G. Letizia and his wife Jennifer and by her five grandsons, Santino Barbera, Vittorio Barbera, Vincent Letizia, Lorenzo Barbera and Anthony Letizia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Valerie’s name di lei to the following charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Atlantic County Animal Shelter and Atlantic Critter Rescue. Services were held privately for Valerie’s wishes of her under the care of George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood, NJ. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
