Deere supports tillering and border seed variety

The Frontier CP1148L, CP1172L, CP1572, CP1596 and CP1512 borers are compatible with compact and handy tractors ranging from 20 to 125 HP. A 4″ (10.16 cm) square center frame and 16″ (40.64 cm) cast iron packing wheels enable Frontier Cultipackers to gently crush clumps and create hard winter troughs with fine particles deep within the seed and a layer of loose mulch on the surface. Improved soil conditions help slow evaporation and conserve moisture while promoting uniform planting depth and maximum contact between seed and soil and improving yields.

Where the seeds are broadcast, Frontier Cultipackers break up the clumps and stabilize the soil around the seeds. “Shallow seed placement and the improved contact between seed and soil created by the collecting machines enhances seed germination,” said Scott Geyer, Marketing Director, Joint Products with John Deere. “If you grow crops, gardens, or grow wildlife food plots, Frontier Cultipackers is right for your needs.” Working widths are available from 4, 6, 8 and 12 feet (1.22, 1.83, 2.44 and 3.66 m) and allow easy transportation on roads and through gates. CP1148L and CP1172L are limited-edition Class I compliant. CP1572 is Class I compliant. CP1596 is Class I and Class II compliant, and CP152 is Class I compliant.

Shank Reaper

Frontier’s SR1201, SR1202 and SR1203 3-Point Shank Breakers can break solids up to 18 inches (45.72 cm) to help root penetration and reduce water runoff. Frontier Shank rippers are compatible with John Deere Compact Utility and Utility tractors, and are available in single, twin or triple configurations.

Heat-treated stems can be moved to suit different row spacing, are protected by shear screws and feature replaceable wear tips. Class I and II quick coupling compatibility simplifies connections between the dozer and stem ripper. “Frontier three point rippers are easy to adjust, easy to maintain, and can be used in a variety of crop systems,” Geier stated.

Frontier Overseas

The Frontier GS1148, GS1160, GS1172, and GS1184 ground pusher are commonly used for primary sowing, overseeding and other applications that include creating cool and warm season grasses and food areas for wildlife. “Large landlords, smallholder farmers, and ranchers can use Frontier Ground-Driven Overseeders to grow anything from rye and oats to prairie grasses, legumes, wildflowers, radishes, soybeans and similar crops,” Gayer explained.

Available in 4, 5, 6, and 7-foot (1.22, 1.52, 1.83 and 2.13 m) models, Frontier Ground-Driven Overeeders can be equipped with three seed box options with grooved and agitated seed cups for accurate, uniform delivery of turfgrass seed. The four models have serrated rollers or disc blades that can be adjusted to provide more or less cultivation of the soil. The seeding rates can be adjusted as needed by engaging or disengaging the seed boxes on the seeding units. Bunching machine options can also be added for good seed-soil contact and soil finishing.
