2022 Farmers Insurance Open odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

The West Coast swing of the 2022 PGA Tour season continues this week at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. It’s a star-studded field with some of the biggest names in golf teeing it up. Below, we look at the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Many of the top players in the world will be competing at Torrey this week, which should make for an exciting finish on Saturday. Rahm is the top-ranked player in this week’s Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, but Daniel Berger isn’t far behind at No. 4 in the poll. Jordan Spieth (5th), Sam Burns (7th) and Bryson DeChambeau (9th) are all highly-touted in the rankings, as well.

This tournament will be split between two courses at Torrey Pines. Players will tee it up on the North and South Course once each in the first two rounds, and then the final two rounds will be played on the South Course. Both play to a par-72, but the South Course is considerably longer than the North: 7,765 yards compared to 7,258 yards. The 2021 US Open was played exclusively on the South Course, which is understandable given its length.

Bryson DeChambeau (+2000)

DeChambeau didn’t play in the Farmers Insurance Open last year, but he did compete in the 2021 US Open at Torrey Pines where he had a chance to win it. He was 3-under and near the top of the leaderboard after three rounds, but a final-round 6-over (77) caused him to plummet to T-26.

He fired rounds of 69 and 68 in between an opening 73 and closing 77, showing that his distance off the tee was once again valuable on the lengthy track. DeChambeau could look for redemption this week after that disappointing finish last season.

2022 Farmers Insurance Open picks – Contender

Justin Rose (+6000)

Rose wasn’t in the field last year and missed the cut in 2020, so his recent history in this event doesn’t give much reason for confidence. However, he won it in 2019, tied for 8th in 2018 and tied for 4th in 2017, so he’s more than comfortable at Torrey Pines.

He’s played well so far this season, too, with a T-12 at the RSM Classic and T-9 at the Hero World Challenge before tying for 33rd this past week at The American Express.

2022 Farmers Insurance Open picks – Long shot

Brandt Snedeker (+10000)

Snedeker quite likes this course and tournament. He won it back in 2012, tied for second in 2013, tied for 9th in 2017 and 3rd in 2020. He’s putting well right now (86th Strokes Gained: Putting) and has a short game (77th SG: Around the Green) to pick up shots around the greens, too, making him a solid long-shot pick at this value.

Snedeker is fresh off a T-14 at The American Express and tied for 11th at the QBE Shootout last month. Take a flyer on him while he’s hot and playing a course he’s won on before.
